How to Create and Use Windows 7 Password Reset Disk?

Windows 7 has a built-in function that allows its users to create a password reset disk with an USB flash drive. If you forget your Windows 7 password, you can reset the forgotten password with the disk. Now we show you how to create and use a Windows 7 password reset disk.

Note: You can only create the disk when you remember the password. If you have lost your Windows 7 password, you cannot create such a disk. Then you will need the help of Windows password recovery tool such as Rekeysoft Windows Password Recovery.

Part 1: Create a Windows 7 password reset disk

Step 1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety, and then clicking User Accounts.

Step 2. In the left pane, click Create a password reset disk.

Step 3. You will come to the Forgotten Password Wizard. Click Next to continue.

Step 4. Insert the USB flash drive into your computer, select it and click Next.

Step 5. Input your current password and then click the Next button.

Step 6. Click Next, and then click Finish to exit.

You have successfully created a Windows 7 password reset disk. If you forget your Windows 7 password, you can use the disk to reset the forgotten password.

Part 2: Reset the forgotten Windows 7 password

Step 1. Enter a wrong password when you attempt to log on Windows. It will display a message that the password is incorrect. Click OK to close the message.

Step 2. Click Reset password, and then insert the password reset disk into your computer.

Step 3. You will come to the Password Reset Wizard. Click Next to continue.

Step 4. Select your passowrd reset disk and then click Next.

Step 5. Type a new password, comfirm the new passowrd, and then click Next.

Step 6. You have successfully reset the password. Click Finish to exit.

Now you can log on Windows 7 with the new passowrd. It is very easy for you, right? If you forget your password again, you can use the same Windows 7 password reset disk. You don't need to make a new one.
